Exterior Door Handles
1997-2001 Honda Prelude 5th Gen
Description
Update: mk5 has more cut off the back of the handle face section to avoid rubbing. Quick update: Updated the models to reduce the area region where the previous design rubs. Mk4 has better tolerances for the door latch rod. The new version is labelled mk4 for driver side handles. Caveat: I don't plan to have these reprinted with the new design so YMMV. Some post processing (body fill and primer) is required to get them looking just right. Please fit test and sand as necessary. Drop in replacement for a 1997-2001 (5th gen) Honda Prelude exterior door handles: Driver's side: prelude_handle_drvr_mk4.stl For the passenger side, mirror the part. May require 4mm hinge pin replacement: https://www.mcmaster.com/8920K16-8920K161/ And retaining rings for the new pin: https://www.mcmaster.com/92133A105/ NOTE: the original hinge pins are reusable if you use pliers to carefully compress the peened end. The door latch rod insert is also available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5910053 They grey printed version is from Shapeways, printed in PA12GB, a glass bead filled nylon. The part seems very rigid and strong, there is no flex anywhere and the spring seats very well. This is currently installed on my car, but I haven't used it for too long. Fitment it intended to be tight to account for various printing processes, so some sanding and other post-processing (like painting) may be required. The surface texture PA12GB is fairly rough, so a high build primer and top coat is necessary for the nicest looking finished part.
Print Instructions
Standard FDM printing settings: - Layer height: 0.2mm - Infill: 70% - Supports: As needed
