Description

*Update - I ran into an issue with the installation in my car. The built in support on the center console, specifically the side with the holes for the tabs to slide into, gave out on me. I assume this is due to too much weight in the cubby, and rough roads. I haven't had a chance to take a good look at a permanent fix, and may not for a while. In the meantime I suggest padding the bottom of the cubby with foam or something similar to help support it from underneath before installing. Original: Just a warning that I am new to modeling, if anyone has any tips on improving this model please let me know! This part replaces the popup cupholders in the center console of B5 chassis Audi A4s. May also work in B5 chassis VW Passats, but I have no means of testing to confirm. I personally hate the popup cupholders as they have no support on two sides, which means hot coffee in your lap if you take a corner a little too fast. I swapped the cubby further back to cupholders so needed a better solution for the now useless space, and this was my solution. Modeled in Blender and sliced in Cura(Cura says there are problems with the model when I load it up but it still slices and prints just fine) I used the generated tree supports touching buildplate with a very high overhang angle(I think 80-85 degrees) so that it only supports the parts near the top that come out at a 90 degree angle. I intend to print in ABS and will update with successful print settings.
