Description

A few days ago I hung up my keys and, and not until the next morning did I notice that only the fob's cracked bezel was still attached. Luckily, I found the other pieces in my pant's pocket. The thin bezel had cracked and the remote came apart leaving only its most useless component behind on the keyring. FITS Keyless Start/Entry Keyfobs for: 2011 - 2015 Ford Explorer Edge Escape Flex Taurus vehicles. Emergency vehicle start, due to a dead fob battery, functions correctly with the shell on. Problems this Case / Shell addresses: (1.) If the fob comes apart, it prevents the loss of all the electronics AND the built-in physical key. (2.) Allows the continued use of a cracked Fob with its tight fit. (3.) Helps prevent accidental button presses, as the buttons get slightly recessed. (4.) Helps one feel for the UNLOCK button using small surface bumps. (5.) Protects the fob from everyday wear and tear. I DECIDED NOT TO ADD A "WEEP-HOLE". If you live in a rainy area, you can modify the design to add a hole big enough to let out any water that might enter the shell. Or just drill a hole once printed. TO REMOVE FOB FROM SHELL: It fits tight by design. Remove any keyrings, then give the open side a downward smack against a solid surface until you can easily remove the keyfob. Not rocket science, but I thought I should mention how I remove it, because other fob case designs have openings to assist with fob removal. My design's back was left solid because it makes the shell stronger. And bc, I just like the feel of smooth PLA in the morning :) SMH! C'mon FORD!: This Ford keyless fob design is about as stupid as all those USB thumb drives that have their lanyard attachment on the cap. Almost by design, one day you may find your drive and data are just gone. But, you'll still have your cap! Also, too many times I've come out to find the rear hatch on my Explorer wide open because my phone touched the remote in my pocket, or the one in my wife's purse got jostled around enough to trigger it, or set off the panic alarm, or unlock the doors... One quickly gets used to the slight bulk the case adds and is fully wife-approved. She and I both feel the remote is actually more comfortable to use with the case.
