Overhead Mic Housing
2013 Toyota Highlander (Limited)
Description
Designed and printed this for my 2013 Toyota Highlander Limited, in which I am installing a Kenwood aftermarket stereo. This print will make it so I can cleanly mount and install the Bluetooth mic into the overhead console, replacing the powered OEM mic that is incompatible with aftermarket head units. This was the optimal alternative to rigging the OEM mic up to the new head (complicated, requires extra components, noisy mic audio while in motion), buying a drop-in replacement passive mic from a vendor I haven't heard of ($30, need to wait for shipping), or just mounting the new mic somewhere on my dash (visible, ugly and weird looking). With this, I can just hot glue the mic into this housing and run the cable through the headliner and the pillar to the head unit, keeping it all completely hidden. Will probably work for other ~2013 Toyota vehicles or other microphones. Printed with PETG to withstand higher temperatures. No promises if PLA will hold up over time.
