Garmin Gps Dash Mount
2017 Ford Super Duty
Description
Update: New mount using ProClip https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4531160 After a quick search for a GPS mount option in a 2017 Super Duty I came up with this little mount for the dash V area. It is mounted with double stick tape. I split the model into 2 pieces for better print result. Used epoxy to join the pieces. There's a slight curve in the facing edge to help align to my original drawing however the ball can be positioned wherever it works best for you. I used support for printing the ball. The model size is just about perfect for ABS and when printed in PETG the ball needed more sanding to properly fit Garmin's mount socket. Update: I've been using this mount with the RV770 GPS and it's pretty big. Couple that with a lot of flexing from the vibrations of dirt road travel, my double stick tape started to let go. So I made a small brace to tame flex forces. A simple post that just needs a dab of epoxy on the end of the peg once everything is mounted with double stick tape. Ok, still not happy with the mount bracket. Sticky on a wedged angle just isn't holding up as a long term mount that stays stuck. Works good enough as long as I don't leave the heavy GPS on it while parked in the sun on hot 100 degree days. Added power cable clips that have been working great for keeping the cables nicely routed up the dash.
Print Instructions
Standard FDM printing settings: - Layer height: 0.2mm - Infill: 70% - Supports: As needed
